GDIT is hiring a Junior Python Developer! Join GDIT where your work will improve outcomes for our Veterans. You will support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) with a Veteran first vision to transform the Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) with greater visibility into claims processing. Together, we’re building a future of fast, transparent claims, empowered teams, and striving for a zero backlog, directly supporting Veterans and making a real impact on the lives of those who served. This high-impact solution accelerates the delivery of benefits to Veterans and their families.
You’ll work as part of a collaborative, agile team using Python and modern AWS services to build microservices, data pipelines, and automation tools that power one of the most meaningful missions in government IT.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
- Assist with development and integration of backend services using Python
- Collaborate with senior developers to implement, test, and maintain APIs and other integration solutions.
- Write clean, efficient, and reusable Python code, adhering to industry best practices.
- Help build automated tests and internal tools
- Participate in code reviews, debugging, testing and documentation
- Contribute to improving integration workflow and services.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED (REQUIRED):
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
- Basic knowledge of Python programming and understanding of its ecosystem and libraries
- Familiarity with Git or other version control systems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Basic knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC )best practices
- Willingness to learn and grow in a collaborative team setting
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
WHAT WOULD BE EVEN BETTER (PREFERRED):
- Understanding of REST APIs and JSON
- Experience with Fast API, Flask, or Django frameworks.
- Understanding of Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Knowledge of SQL or NoSQL databases
- Basic understanding of CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with tools like Postman or Swagger for API testing
- Familiarity with Agile development practices (Scrum, Kanban)
