The IT Application Development Intern will have the opportunity to learn and apply an analytical problem-solving approach to a diverse set of business questions. The IT Application Development Intern will work directly with the Managers and members of the IT team as well as other stakeholders who work with technology around Select Quote. This internship will prepare the candidate for future work in the field of IT by equipping them to leverage a variety of tools and techniques to answer business questions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Learn how to design, develop, and implement software components, enhancements, modules, and solutions which meet SelectQuote business needs and expectations with respect to key project/product performance measures.
- Learn how to design and develop software solutions directly from business specifications and requirements.
- Self-sufficiency during development phases is required, using other senior developers or architects to validate and peer review code.
- Expand existing software to meet the changing needs of our business lines.
- Adhere to development scope and timelines in accordance to overall project and in line with SelectQuote-provided development tools and processes.
- Contribute to scalable, automated solutions to service our customers and internal development team.
- Learn how to communicate effectively and efficiently with business line staff and vendor partners on solution development deliverables.

Education and Experience:
- Currently enrolled in Junior or Senior year of college/university.
- Degree focused in Computer Science Information Systems Data Science Analytics Statistics Mathematics Engineering.
- Relevant previous internship experience or the completion of a project that demonstrates aptitude for programming and data analysis.
- Familiarity with JavaScript/Node.js and related frameworks or tools (e.g., Express, npm).
- Basic understanding of HTML5 and CSS3.
- Awareness of RESTful API concepts and how they are used in applications.
- Exposure to SQL databases (MSSQL or similar).
- Comfortable using common code editors or IDEs (such as Visual Studio Code, Atom, or Eclipse).
- Familiarity with JIRA or other project tracking tools is a plus.
