Under the direction of the IT Manager, the Database Administrator is responsible for ensuring the stability, security, and performance of ImageTrend’s product databases. This role manages database environments across development and production, oversees data integrity, and optimizes resources for growth and cost efficiency. The Database Administrator collaborates closely with development teams on design and deployment, responds to performance and data requests, and implements best practices for security and compliance.

What You'll Do:

  • Ensure security standards for database access are upheld (encryption, external client access)
  • Manage resource storage and compute for growth and cost optimization
  • Participate actively in the development and deployment process for pipeline changes
  • Collaborate with development teams on database design, including partitioning, indexing, and key distribution strategies
  • Respond promptly to user data and performance requests and resolve database issues in both production and development environments
  • Ensure data integrity across all systems and environments
  • Regularly monitor and optimize database performance, including query tuning and indexing
  • Configure, manage, and maintain Azure Synapse Analytics workspaces and SQL managed instances
  • Monitor and manage data lakes, including ETL/ELT processes for large-scale data operations
  • Design and implement backup strategies and disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity
  • Develop scripts or use tools to automate routine database tasks (e.g., maintenance, monitoring)
  • Maintain detailed documentation for configurations, processes, and recovery procedures
  • Ensure databases meet regulatory compliance standards and assist with audits
  • Participate in a regular on-call rotation for critical responses outside business hours (after initial training period and upon supervisor request)
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Proven expertise in Azure Synapse and SQL managed instances
  • Experience loading data from various sources and formats (e.g., databases, JSON, XML
  • AdvancedSQL skills and ability to design star schema data warehouses
  • Proficiency with ADF, Azure Monitor, and Log Analytics
  • Design star schema data warehouses with extensive experience
  • Experience managing large datasets and optimizing performance
  • Experience with database monitoring and alerting tools for proactive issue resolution
  • Experience with query optimization, indexing strategies, and troubleshooting performance bottlenecks.
  • Knowledge of database security standards, encryption, and compliance frameworks (e.g., HIPAA)
  • Strong technical knowledge of Windows server environments and Azure cloud services, with a commitment to continuous learning
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities with attention to detail
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills within cross-functional teams
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet critical deadlines
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, CRM platforms, and project management tools
  • Ability to maintain discretion when handling proprietary and confidential information
  • Enthusiasm for learning and expanding knowledge or skills
  • Strong work ethic, integrity, honesty, collaboration and team orientation
  • Ability to travel up to 10%
