Magnite is looking for a Software Engineer I to join the Marketplace Quality Engineering team. This team designs, builds, and maintains systems that protect the integrity and transparency of Magnite’s advertising automation platform and enable our partners to protect their brands. You will be part of a collaborative, supportive environment where you can grow your skills and contribute to meaningful projects from day one.

In this role you will:
- Work with experienced engineers to design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs
- Write production-quality code and automated tests
- Collaborate across distributed teams to understand requirements and build solutions
- Learn to identify and troubleshoot bugs, performance issues, and edge cases
- Contribute to code reviews, design discussions, and team retrospectives
- Participate in team planning, demos, and agile ceremonies
- Build confidence in delivering high-quality, testable, and maintainable software
We’re looking for someone with:
- 0–2 years of professional software engineering experience (internships and personal projects welcome)
- A degree in Computer Science or a related field
- A strong foundation in computer science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, OOP)
- Familiarity with at least one statically-typed, object-oriented language (Java preferred)
- Exposure to SQL and relational database concepts
- Comfort using command-line tools in a Linux environment and working with Git
- A proactive attitude and strong communication skills — especially in a collaborative, distributed team environment
- A desire to learn from feedback and grow as a backend engineer
- Experience with Java and/or Python
- Exposure to Docker and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS)
- Academic or project experience with backend systems or APIs
