Collaborate with CLEAR faculty to help implement the Price College of Engineering 2025–2026 digital accessibility initiative. Improve the quality of engineering courses by reviewing, editing, and updating digital course materials for accessibility. Work with a team to support faculty and train teaching assistants as they modify course content to comply with federal accessibility guidelines and regulations.

Responsibilities

The key responsibilities of the position include:

  • Perform usability and accessibility checks of in-person, hybrid, online, and remote real-time courses
  • Identify and flag inaccessible content, elements, and tools in digital course materials
  • Review, update, and test course materials and settings for accessibility
  • Assist in developing accessibility training materials and videos
  • Train other student employees in accessibility processes
  • Under supervision, support faculty in accessibility updates
  • Report to supervisors for assignments
  • Respond to requests in a timely manner
  • Meet all assigned deadlines within a flexible working schedule
  • Other duties as assigned.

This job is an entry-level position. Training will be provided. To qualify, candidates must possess the minimum qualifications:

  • Current University of Utah student
  • One year of computer operations experience
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Familiarity with Windows, Mac, tablets, and mobile devices
  • Experience with Canvas LMS as a student or instructor
  • Effective communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Experience learning and using new software
  • Organization and time management skills
  • Ability to perform the essential job functions as outlined above.

Minimum Qualifications

Preferences

Priority will be given to candidates with any of the preferred qualifications:

  • Working towards a bachelor’s or master’s degree in the Price College of Engineering (i.e., biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, civil and environmental engineering, computer engineering, computer science, construction engineering, data science, electrical engineering, materials science and engineering, and mechanical engineering)
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Commons tools, especially Adobe Acrobat
  • Experience with video editing and screencast recording
    • Experience with HTML and web content design.
