We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented AutoCAD Technician who will be responsible for producing accurate, detailed 2D drawings and layouts to support the installation of mounted devices on new and existing structures. This entry-level drafting position plays a critical role in translating design concepts, field data, and technical specifications into clear construction-ready documents that meet company standards, jurisdictional requirements, and project deadlines.

Drafting & Design

  • Create detailed 2D drawings for mounted devices (e.g., cameras, sensors, lights) using AutoCAD or comparable CAD software.
  • Include dimensions, callouts, notes, and other annotations to support field installation and verification.
  • Accurately represent new and existing structural elements in drawings to ensure proper fit, clearances, and safety.

Quality Assurance & Standards Compliance

  • Review drawings for completeness, clarity, accuracy, and consistency with internal drafting standards and project specifications.
  • Verify that work complies with company procedures, client requirements, and jurisdictional codes or standards.

Interpretation of Technical Inputs

  • Read and interpret site plans, field notes, photographs, and markups to accurately place equipment in drawings.
  • Consider design specifications, coverage requirements, and sightlines to optimize device placement.
  • Collaborate with permitting, solutions engineers, project managers, and field teams to resolve conflicts or clarify design intent.

Plan Revision & Updates

  • Revise and update drawings based on feedback from permitting jurisdictions, engineers, project managers, or field verification teams.
  • Maintain accurate records of drawing revisions and ensure version control.

Collaboration & Workflow

  • Communicate with team members to coordinate deliverables and meet project milestones.
  • Provide regular updates to supervisors on project progress and potential drafting-related issues.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of CAD standards and drafting workflows

The Skillset

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree or CAD certificate preferred.
  • 0–2 years of AutoCAD drafting experience in an engineering, construction, or telecommunications environment preferred.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD or similar CAD software (e.g., MicroStation, DraftSight).
  • Understanding of 2D drafting fundamentals, dimensioning, and scaling.
  • Ability to interpret site plans, technical markups, and engineering drawings.
  • Familiarity with drafting standards, layer management, and file organization.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, accurate work.
  • Good communication and collaboration skills with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to learn new software, tools, and industry standards.
